In honor of Mother’s Day this past weekend, today we speak with Dr. Katayune Kaeni, Psy.D., PMH-C. Also known as Dr. Kat, she is a psychologist in private practice specializing in perinatal mental health. She works in her local community to provide training in perinatal mental health to local mental health and allied healthcare providers. Dr. Kat is a trainer and board member of Postpartum Support International. She is also the creator and host of Mom & Mind Podcast, which focuses on perinatal mental health and wellness. Dr. Kat is a fierce advocate for mothers and families, hoping to get them the information they deserve, before they need it.
In this episode, we discuss some of the clinical signs and symptoms of postpartum depression - the emotional, behavioral, and cognitive effects. We also discuss perinatal mental health versus traditional depression/anxiety. Finally, we chat about Postpartum Support International where she sits on the board.
